6 Today

My baby boy is 6 years old today! I can hardly believe that I have a 6 year old.  A friend of mine told me the other day "the days are long, but the years are short!" I can attest to that statement for sure!

Thank you Lord for loaning Jase to us for these past 6 years.  I pray that we are raising him in a way that would be pleasing to you.

Love my Jasey, Boo-boo, Boo-lou, JJ to bits!!

Week in review

Shawn has been home for a little over a week now, but it has still been as busy as ever, even though he is here to help.  SO glad to have him home; this is how it should be!!

Our little Finn is EVERYWHERE!! He loves crawling throughout the house to see what he can get into and he is a climber! I've never had a child climb out of their bed, but for some reason I think he may be the one! He is 9 months now and doesn't slow down much, unless he is asleep!  I love this little guy!

Here is a video of him tonight after dinner.  He is a wild man! Warning on your volume...he is LOUD!

On Monday I made an appointment for Jase and Allyson at the doctor.  Allyson had been really snotty for a few days and Jase ran a mild fever Saturday evening and came down with a cough and he is NEVER sick.  While at the doctor's office I went ahead and asked if they could fit Finn in as well and they could.  Verdict: Jase had a head cold, Allyson had an ear infection in her left ear and one forming in her right and Finn had a double ear infection.  Finn has been pulling at his ears the last month and has been to the doctor twice already in the past month, but no ear infection. You just never know.  The doctor was "kind" enough to point out that the sickest child was the one without an appointment.  Thanks for that doc, I know...Mother of the Year Award! Geez!

Allyson got to use the doctor's tools and she thought she was Doc McStuffins from Disney Junior like you would not believe.  I had to capture this moment!

I bought Jase a new notebook last week and he has made two journal entries so far.  The first one was over a short story he read from Toad and Frog, I just love those books! And one from this week is below.  He has been really into the show Peter Rabbit on Nick Junior lately and it involves a farmer and his crops, so I'm assuming that's where this came from.  I tried to encourage him to write another sentence (he wrote more for Toad and Frog), but this was all he wanted to say! Ha! Other than helping him sound out radish, he did everything else on his own.  When he takes his time, he has great penmanship.

And lastly, my baby boy will be 6 this weekend!! {I'm not sure where 6 years have gone?!}  We have been in full party planning mode this week! Needless to say, Jase has been right in the middle of it all and I just love that.  My mom and sister are even involved!  It is a family affair for sure and they are great to say the least.  Below is a page from my notebook (aka Party Planning Bible) where Jase has captured all of his ideas.  Our theme is Lego Indiana Jones and you can see the ark, idol, skull, satchels, Lego men, etc.  He hasn't seen an actual Indiana Jones movie, but Jase is intrigued by all of the adventure it has to offer on the Lego movie clips he has seen.  I hope the kiddos have a blast at the party and I can't wait to post about it!

Rental Fun

This past Saturday we bought a car!! We have been thinking about buying one since I got pregnant with Finn, but wanted to wait and save up some money.  Our Trail Blazer has been a great vehicle for us; we loved it, but we were at max capacity with only 5 seats.  So, we decided to upgrade to a Suburban.  I think I am going to LOVE it, well I kind of already do! ;) I just love all the room and the option to have other people in the car with us, especially now that Jase is getting older.

We had a few things done to the Suburban, so we had a rental vehicle this week, which has mainly sat in the driveway the whole time.  This morning I was going outside to get something and the kids asked to get in it.  We all got in, PJs and all {well not me, I had clothes on!}.  The older two had so much fun pressing every button and turning the steering wheel.  They got free reign to go anywhere they wanted to, from the front all the way to the back.  We even played several rounds of hide-and-go-seek! They were so giddy, it was cute! Even Finny crawled around everywhere!

I am so guilty of not enjoying my kiddos enough and just taking in these little moments of unplanned fun.  I'm glad we spent our morning in the rental today and didn't eat breakfast until after 10 am, it made for a great rest of the day!

8 Months!

So I am super late on this post!! He will be 9 months in a little over a week!  Oh well, life happens! Finn is EVERYWHERE!! There is no leaving him alone now! And the floor...I had temporarily forgot what these tiny fingers could pick up...everything! Finn Michael is getting so big {18 lb 14 oz as of last Wednesday} and is such a happy baby.  His little laugh is the cutest thing and Jase can make him cackle at the drop of a hat, it is cute.  He has even said "JJ" a few times {one of the many nicknames for Jase}.

He has been to the doctor twice in the past few weeks for being gunky and congested.  I thought for sure it was an ear infection since he has been pulling on them to no end at times.  Nope.  First time was a virus and the last time was a cold.  Thankful it was nothing serious, but I'm ready for no more runny noses!  Finn currently has 3 teeth {two on bottom and 1 on top} and his other one up top is trying to break through.  I'm sure him cutting teeth has a lot to do with his sickness, I remember this with the other two as well.  And he has started biting, it actually is a game to him and he thinks he is super cute doing it...little stinker.

Earlier this month he started standing up in his bed and playpen.  It SO caught me off guard when I would walk by and there he would be standing up, looking at me!!

Here is a clip of him on Easter waving!!  So cute!

And another one of him trying to climb earlier this month in the homeschool room.

I snapped this cute pic of Allyson while taking Finn's pictures this weekend.  She rarely looks at the camera these days, so this was golden!

And lastly, one of me with Ally helping me get Finn to smile and look at the camera!!

Outdoor Time

This week we have been outside nearly everyday and we are all enjoying it!! Jase cannot get enough of throwing the baseball, so that has been an item on the afternoon agenda each day.  I picked Finn up a swing for our playset this week and he just loves it!! It allows me a free hand to play with the other kiddos, which is nice. I can't wait for Daddy to get home next week and spend afternoons together with him!

Nanny Time

The boys hung out with Nanny this afternoon while I was with Sister.  Jase had a great time with her while I was gone.  They were outside a lot of the afternoon playing catch and enjoying the weather. When we got home, we all returned back outside and they were at it again throwing the baseball around.  They must have thrown for close to an hour while I was home.  With Shawn gone, I'm so glad that Jase was able to get this one-on-one time with her.  Nanny was doing a great job drilling him on catching pop-ups and grounders.  He has 3 games next week, so this was a great warm-up for the week ahead.

And of course, I found my little green thumb picking flowers/weeds.  Her favorite past time for sure!

So thankful for my Mom and her help with the kids and my house today.  It was a breath of fresh air.  I love you, Mom.

Mommy/Daughter Day

It was so nice to spend some time with my baby girl this afternoon. We went to my best friend's daughter's birthday. We enjoyed some lunch at Cafe Adobe and then headed over to Bath Junkie.

Happy 9th birthday Madeline!
I was so excited to take Allyson there because she loves scents, sparkles and soaps!!  She was entirely too big getting her hands washed and smelling scents for her lotion.

She loves her pink, sparkly lotion!  I made ground rules and told her that this lotion would be stored in my room.  She has a reputation around here of confiscating antibacterial soaps and lotions and using them until they are GONE! I hope this $20 lotion lasts a touch longer than normal!  ;-)

I just love my baby girl and so thankful to spend this time together with her.

He is Risen

Sunday morning we woke up and went to our usual gathering place to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Jase was in the adult choir program this Easter and they performed it during our service on Sunday.  He loves to sing and nothing is better than singing for the Lord!

Here is the last scene that shows Jesus is alive!!  This is the cornerstone of our faith.  Outside of Christianity, all other gods are dead and are simply statues, but we serve a living, powerful God who created the universe and knows every detail about me.  I'm so unworthy of the grace He extends to me.  Thank you Jesus. {Jase is on the bottom left.}

We spent the rest of the afternoon at my mom's house.  We all enjoyed it.  They played indoors and outdoors all day long.

Every year Nanny puts together Easter baskets for the kiddos...spoiled for sure!  They loved all of their goodies.  And Finny got his first taste of some Peeps; he gobbled them up!

My mom has a sleeping mask and Allyson always plays with it when she is over their house.  So, Ally had one in her Easter basket from my mom, it was too funny!!

My beautiful mother!  So thankful for her and all she does for us!

The kids enjoyed playing with Uncle Shannon and PawPaw all day!  Aunt Alisha joined us a little later that afternoon.  It was a great day!

Party Day

After the Easter egg hunt, we headed to the skating rink for some birthday party fun...at least I thought.  Poor Allyson was scared of the environment {dim lights, music, disco lights} so she did not skate at all.  I was bummed.  She did warm up after being there for a bit and walked around with friends, so at least that was good.  As for Jase, he was ready to skate!  Only thing is that we went through 3 pairs of skates before finding the right pair.  We also had the wheels tightened up on the last pair, which was huge for him!! I always enjoyed skating growing up and hoped they would as well.  Maybe I need to take them more often on Christian music skate nights.  I was so NOT impressed with the music they were playing while at a preschool birthday party.  C'mon...think people!

After the skating party, our day was not over.  We headed over to Shawn's parents for some more birthday fun!  Our nephew, Austin, was having his 4th birthday party!  The kids had fun playing with their cousins and I enjoyed visiting with family.

Easter Egg Hunt

Saturday morning we headed out to our local park for our annual egg hunt with our Church.  Can I just say how precious our little Finn is?!?  Love him to bits! {He is 8 months now!!}

Taking pictures of my own kids drives me curazy sometimes!!  I don't understand why it is so hard to simply look, with your eyes, at the stinkin' camera!?!?  Can you tell we had some issues with this?  Out of 40 pics, this was the best I could get.

Before the hunt, all the kiddos sat down and Mrs. Ashley walked them through the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus with the resurrection eggs (I love them!).

Finn slept through most of the festivities since this was prime time nap time for him!

We stayed a little afterwards and let Jase play some 2-touch football; he loved it!
