Tuxedo Fitting - May 31, 2011

Shawn took Jase to get fitted for Aunt Alisha's wedding and said that he loved every minute of it!!

Getting measured for his tuxedo!!

So big!! My handsome little boy!

Look at his little chubby legs and feet...I love it!!
Oh and for the record...I don't think we brushed his hair all day!! And with summer here...that is becoming more and more of the norm! But we are remembering to brush teeth...so that is a good thing! :)

Who Needs Dow Park?

For Jase's 4th birthday and a gift for Allyson too, Nanny and PawPaw bought the kids their very own playset for the backyard! Jase was so excited and Shawn and I were actually looking forward to putting it together as well. Side note: Bless Shawn's heart, but he has a pretty bad track record of putting things together...something ALWAYS goes wrong. lol! A crack in the wood, drilling too far, popping pegs out of the wood...you name it.  It's always a running joke when we go to put something together and he laughs about it too.  Here we go!

Beginning of the adventure!

All the wood is laid out and water seal is applied!

All hardware for the 32 phases are organized and ready to go!
So far, so good on organizing everything and getting prepped. We get through the first few phases and it is coming along.  We get to the left side where the sides supports are and run into a bit of trouble.  The metal brackets they sent did not line up correctly and to make a long story short one of the long boards got split...pretty bad.  A little wood glue and some screws fixed that right up.  Sheesh...it was time for me to go inside!

Picture taken at the end of the 2nd full day...almost there!

Finished Product!! (and Hank too!)

Our first friends on our playset!!

Allyson and Jase helping Daddy out!!

Jase absolutely loves his new playset! And Ally too...she enjoys it!!
Shawn has always been a "let's go to the park" type of guy, but I enjoy being at home. Now, it's a win-win because we have the park right in our backyard!! The kids play on it nearly everyday and Jase just LOVES to swing.  We are in the process of teaching him to swing himself because it is a fight (not kidding) when we have to go inside and the swinging has to stop.

Thanks again Nanny and PawPaw!!

Visiting with Nana - May 28, 2011

After Church on May 28th, we drove out to Livingston and visited with Nana who has been temporarily placed in a Nursing Home to build up her strength.  She has recently fell at her house twice and the last time she was left unattended on the floor for 18+ hours...really sad.  She was then hospitalized for about two weeks and then transferred to this home.  I know she is ready to go back to her own home, but being here and getting help (whether she wants it or not) has really been good for her.

While we were there she let us take her out front for a few minutes, it was nice out.  I was also able to have some great conversations with her, including one about her faith and who we put our trust in: Jesus Christ.

Jase's Open House

Tuesday, May 17th, we went to Jase's 3 year old preschool open house.  We gathered in the church and all of the kids sang songs they have been learning all year long!! It was wonderful.  One of the songs that touched me was "You are so Beautiful to Me"...it was awesome and they even did sign language to it...talk about melting your heart!!!

Grandma and Grandpa, Nanny, and Aunt Alisha and JoJo came to support Jase on this special night!!

A Little Camping Fun!

May 13th-15th we drove out to Huntsville State Park and did a little camping. All the years (15 to be exact) that Shawn and I have been together, I think this is our first time to camp together. The last time I remember camping is the summer of 8th grade in Livingston State Park with my parents and Aunt Kathleen and Uncle Eddie and my cousins.

We took the kiddos (their first trip) and camped with Jay, Michelle (birthday girl!), Emily and Madeline. The weather was nice...not too hot, which made it nice for sleeping. The guys brought their kayaks and did a little fishing, we grilled out every night and enjoyed some s'mores. Jase really enjoyed it and Allyson too, but she probably will enjoy it more in a few years. Plus she was fighting an illness which made her really clingy.

We pull up and Mr. Jay pulls on in the kayak!

Allyson was playing in the kayak as we were unloading the car.

Like Father Like Son...Fishing and Texas Longorns!!

Both Pope Girls had one on at the same time!

Here Fishy Fishy!! Ally enjoyed with the fish!

Jase's Field Day at MWS - May 10, 2011

So, I am a little behind on posting, but I have found a little time and want to catch up a bit.  Allyson and I went to Jase's school (MWS - Methodist Weekday School) and watched him and all of the T/Th 3-4 year olds participate in their field day.  Jase LOVED it and had a blast!! I loved cheering Jase along as he performed! Mrs. Michelle even came out to watch him too.

Stretching it out before the fun begins!
