Sept Update

Since the last post, we have been nothing but busy lately. My computer has officially bit the dust, so I have been unable to download pictures or write some blog entries longer than a paragraph. My phone is great for shorter entries and only attaching one picture.

After 18 days of being out of town in Turkey, Shawn arrived home on Sept 3rd. We originally scheduled Allyson's birthday for Sat, Aug 28th, but that got pushed when Shawn was asked to stay another week. We had her party on Labor day afternoon, on Aunt Alisha's birthday. We are so blessed to have so many friends and family support Ally as she turned 1! We had a zoo-themed party and passed out zoo animals as we read Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear? The adults also played a team drawing game and they enjoyed it. I set up a candy bar where the kids, alongside of their parents filled up a bag full of goodies. I think the colorful gum balls and tall lollipops had the kids excited. Ally did great with her cake and even shared with others! :) Michelle did a fabulous job on both cakes...all of the zoo animals were awesome! Ally (and Jase) love all of her new toys. The picture shown is one the of toys that Jase loves and they often share because Ally wants to play with EVERYTHING that Jase touches! Lol!

I took Jase to the doctor on 9/15 for a well check-up and I was surprised by some of his measurements. He is now 35 lbs (80th percentile) and 39 1/4 inches tall (90th percentile). He doesn't seem like a huge kid to me, so it shocked me about the percentiles. I have to admit that he is now wearing 4T pants because his 3T's are too short. He is almost 3 1/2...crazy!!

We bought Ally a big girl car seat about 2 months ago, but have been waiting for her to turn a year and weigh 20 lbs or more. Well, I put her on the scale after church this afternoon and she was 20.05 lbs!! I was so excited!! Shawn installed her new seat and she is such a big girl sitting in it. I know she will enjoy sitting like Brother and looking around.

Ally is not walking yet, but has started to stand up on her own without holding on. No rush on her walking, I know it will happen soon enough, just like everything else!!

Jase has really been enjoying school. He brought his first library book home last Thursday. I think I am more excited to search his backpack when he gets home, than he is. Lol! I love it when his teacher sends home completed work or the school sends home letters. He usually finishes all of his lunch everyday too. I am glad to see he is eating well at school.

Last Sunday during Children's church he was asked to bless the snack and Michelle said she was expecting "God is great, God is good", but she said that he said his own prayer and did a great job! Since then he has blessed us with his new prayer many times: "Dear God, thank you for this day. May God Bless Mommy, Daddy, Ally and me! Thank you for this food. In Jesus' name, amen." The first time I heard it, I cried. It touched my heart so much. We pray at night together, but a lot of the time he repeats what we say or we will pray while he listens. It is awesome to hear him talk to God in his own words. He is building a relationship with Jesus at 3 years old and there is nothing more that we could want for our son.

Has it been a year already??

Well today is Allyson's first birthday!! I cannot believe that a whole year has flown by...crazy! Jase did not have school today so we just relaxed at the house most of the day. While Ally was taking a nap Jase helped me bake the cake. I have some cute pics on my camera that I'll have to down load of him sitting on the counter helping me mix and taste-test the batter!! He enjoyed it. He just keep saying "what's next Mommy?"

Before church this evening we finished the cake off with icing and sang happy birthday. I made a healthy icing for her out of Greek yogurt, powdered sugar and a splash of vanilla. She seemed to like it just fine. ;)

I recorded our birthday song and her first bite. You can hear Jase in the background complaining that he did not want that much icing on his. Of course, if I would have barely put any on his I would have heard a different complaint. Oh well...he ended up eating it.

Fresh Beat Band

Well, we have found a show that Jase cannot get enough of...Fresh Beat Band on Nickelodeon. The show is cute and geared towards preschoolers. Jase loves listening and dancing to music and this show definitely fulfills that!

He pretends to be Kiki on the show because she plays the guitar. I have tried to talk him into being Twist or Shout since they are boys, but no luck. Lol!

Here is a clip of him dancing to one of their songs. He is mimicking all of their moves. Watch him at the very end...funny!

Chick-fil-a playtime

In celebration of Jase's first day of pre-K I took the kiddos to Chick-fil-a for lunch and playtime.

They both had a great time, Ally in particular! We were the only ones in the play area so I let her run wild!! She was climbing up the slide like a big girl. I had to go get her 3 times. Enjoy!

No tears...

For Jase this morning. (Mommy shed a few as we drove off.) I took him to preschool for the first time this morning and what a big boy he was. He was super excited when I woke him up!! Jase is sporting Mickey Mouse...of course! No socks because he has out grown his old ones and the new ones I bought are still too big. Just threw them in the washer so hopefully they will shrink. Lol!

Last Thursday at Meet the Teacher we were given his first homework assignment. He had to decorate a guitar and put one word to describe him along with a picture. We went with FUNNY. I thought it suited him.

On the back we had to answer a few questions. Here are the Q's & A's:

Fav food: fruit snacks
Fav toy: playing sports, tools
Fav show/movie: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Fav color: orange & red
Pets: 2 dogs: Hankie & Jet

He gave me all of the answers...too funny! He also helped pick out and glue the paper and pictures for his guitar.

Allyson was all smiles this morning, as usual. Less than a week away she will be 1!! I can't believe it. So much has changed since this time last year. We now have a precious little girl, Mommy is staying at home, and Jase has started school. Thank you Jesus for an awesome year!!

Future Pitcher?

Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner and playtime tonight. When you come and visit there is no way you will get out of the door without playing some type of sport. Tonight it was baseball!

Jase and Grandpa played a couple of innings after dinner. Jase has the cutest windup I've seen, so I had to catch it on video. Oh and when Grandpa left I was called up from the minors (or couch!) to play! Lol!

At the Yankee's game you could pay $3 to throw 3 balls and they would clock your speed. Jase wanted to do it, so we waited in line. He was the youngest participant by 3 years or so. The game was just ending so a small crowd was building around as people cleared the stands. Jase did the same windup as he threw the three balls. Shawn and I were not prepared with our cameras so we were unable to record it. I captured a photo or two, but there is nothing like watching him. Everyone around got a KICK out of it.

Ally's foot action

Ally is approaching a year next week (wow!) and we have been working on taking steps.

My mom (aka Nanny) was over on Monday and she was helping Ally push Jase's firetruck. We still have a ways to go, but she is making progress. Catch her on YouTube.
