What a game!

Tonight we had our second game of the week. On Tuesday we played a team and tied 20-20. We hit the ball great, but just could not put any outs together to stop them. This evening we played a team that has beat us twice, so this was our final chance against them this season. And if you're not into baseball details, this may not be your favorite post!! But I am currently ate up with t-ball, so I have to share! :-)

We were visitors and up at bat first. The opposing team made some great plays and ended up getting 3 outs on us before we could get our 5 runs in. That is exactly how you win in this age group: stopping the other team from getting 5 runs each inning and out scoring them when you're at bat. I was bummed that they had stopped us in the first, I started feeling defeated already.

Going into the 2nd inning, the other team was up 5-4. We scored 5 runs that inning and it was their time up at the plate. They scored one run then our pitcher, Wyatt, beat a runner home and got a force out for the first out. They scored another run and either had the bases loaded or had runners on 1st and 2nd. The next batter up hit a line drive to Jase at 1st base and he caught it!!! Then without instruction, he turned and ran to his base and stepped on it for a double play!! Making that the 3rd out of the evening and only holding them to 2 runs. So, we were up 9-7 at the end of the 2nd. (In the car ride home and at dinner we had several conversations about the double play and he finally realized that he got 2 people with one play. You should have seen the look on his face and his giggle! Priceless!!)

It felt great to be up, but we needed 5 runs in the 3rd for insurance. The boys hit the ball great and sure enough we got 5 runs. Woohoo!!! We took the field and the first play of the inning, they hit the ball to short stop, where Jase was playing and he fielded it and threw it to first. Wyatt scooped up the ball for the first out of the inning!!! They got a couple of runners on and then one of their batters struck out, so we had 2 outs on them. They hit the ball through our infield and it went into the outfield. We ended up relaying it home and our catcher got the ball, but it was too late, the runner had already crossed home plate. Our catcher went ahead and put the tag on him and the next thing you know the umpire calls the runner out: he didn't touch home!! 3 outs! Then the umpire says "ball game". We still had a few minutes left before time expired and I wondered why we didn't start the 4th inning. Then I found out that the other team was mathematically eliminated since it was 14-7, so there was no reason to start the 4th!! Not only a win, but we stopped them twice!

Awesome game boys!! After the game Shawn was talking to the boys and told them how proud he was of them and that they have improved so much this season. It was really sweet and I found myself tearing up!! Must be the pregnancy! ;)

Today after lunch Allyson requested Oreos because Jase had them in his lunchable.  She didn't know that I had some in-stock and she was definitely a fan!!

I received a special delivery today and it was a surprise for sure! I love having fresh flowers in the house and I am looking forward to enjoying them for the next week! Thank you Shawn for thinking of me.  I have to say while the flowers are awesome, spending time with you and the kiddos is the best gift you could give me! :-)

Kindergarten Bash

This afternoon Jase had a "Kindergarten Bash" at his school. All of the kids in the 4 year old preschool classes were invited to come. They played games, ate pizza, played on the playground and did other activities. When I pulled up to pick up Jase, all of the kids looked so cute!! They were all in matching T-shirts: "Class of 2012 MWS". It was almost too much for me to handle! First thing Jase said when he got in the car is "I'm in kindergarten now!" He is way too big!!

I'm glad he had a fun time with all his friends at the "bash". Allyson was upset that she was not going. I reassured her that she was going in the morning. :-)

After the party we had to get ready for our game tonight. We were playing a team that has already beat us twice this season, so we were expecting a tough game. We play an hour or 4 innings and at the end of the 3rd inning it was 15-15; we were neck and neck with them.

In the top of the 4th, the other team got their first runner on base. Then the next batter hit a pop-up to our pitcher and he caught it. We are all going nuts in the stands and yelling to throw it to first. Well Jase covers first base like a normal play and our pitcher throws it to first like it was a routine play and what do you know. . . double play!!! It was awesome.

I thought for sure, we have 2 outs and they haven't scored any runs, we're bound to stop them, but we couldn't come up with another out. They ended up getting 5 runs and were up by 5. It was out turn to bat and we did the same by scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 4th. 20-20 tie ball game. The boys played an awesome game and I am so proud of them. While a win would have been sweet, a tie to this team was just as nice.

Picture is not so great, but here is Jase on 1st base with 2 outs on the scoreboard!

Baseball Sister

Ok, I have to share this super cute shirt I picked up a few weeks ago. It says Baseball Sister and has a picture of a baseball with pigtails on it. Last night for the game she wore it and of course I had to put her hair in pigtails. I thought she looked super cute, but I also think that when she wakes up and her hair is in knots. :-)

Mommy & Allyson
As for Jase's game, he played well at 1st base. I've noticed that he has this game face and really is into the game. We ended up losing the game, but the kids said they had fun when Shawn asked after the game, so I was glad to hear that.

I guess I had completely forgot how intense t-ball can be. And now that I have a son playing and my husband coaching, the intensity has stepped up several notches. And not to mention I'm a "little" competitive myself, which adds to the situation. I seriously tossed and turned last night/this morning replaying the game in my head and thinking of situations to work on at practice. Geez!!! And now I'm regretting not taking that Tylenol last night before I went to bed because my head is still ringing. 2 games down and 16 to go!! :)

Let's Play Ball!! - Updated

A couple of hours after the parade we headed up to the ball field for our first game of the season.  We got up there early enough to watch most of the game before us and OH MY WORD, this is some serious stuff!! LOL!  The intensity level went up right there and let the strategy begin!!

The first two innings in our game were neck and neck.  They scored 5, we scored 5 and so on.  The top of the 3rd inning we got three outs with two forces out at home by the pitcher and Jase made the final out of the inning by tagging a runner at short stop!  We only allowed them to score 1 run that inning! We ended up scoring 5 runs that inning, so we were up 15-11.  Top of the 4th they scored 5, so they were up 16-15.  Time was up, so we would complete inning.  We needed 2 runs and we would win.  They ended up getting an out at first base, geez, here we go.  A few batters later we got the two runs and that was the ball game!

One minor detail from this proud Momma . . . Jase's first at bat in the second inning is one that I'll remember forever!  Daddy lined him up and the umpire placed the ball on the tee.

He hit the ball to the right side and through the infield.  Jase ran fast and did an awesome job listening to the base coaches.  He rounded 1st, then 2nd, and finally 3rd . . . HOME RUN!! His first ever at bat, a home run.  Ok, if it would have been a single I would have been pumped as well.  I was helping out in the dugout, so I had a great view.  I was jumping up and down, yelling "RUN, RUN!" It was awesome!!  I'm sure Little Man in my tummy felt like he was on a roller coaster from all the jumping I did!! As I'm typing this he is kicking, so I know he is doing just fine.

What an awesome game.  All the boys played very well and I was really impressed with all of them.  And the coaches too, especially Coach Shawn :-), did a great job!!  I'm looking forward to all of the games and it brings back memories from when my little sister and brother used to play and we would get so fired up and you thought you were going to have a heart attack cheering them on.  SO FUN . . . I LOVE IT!

My sister read my blog and sent me an e-mail telling me that I was missing one picture on this post.  She attached the picture below.  What an AWESOME picture she took and the moment it captured!! This is Jase coming in from his home run and that is me giving him a hi-five! Tears came to my eyes when I saw it! Thank you Alisha for sharing it with me!!
