Thanksgiving Feast

I'm a little late in posting, but we had such a fun Thanksgiving Feast with our Homeschool Community, I want to document. Our director, Frankie, did an awesome job of setting it all up. The kids loved all of the table décor and sharing a meal with friends!

Right before our feast, the kids learned about rockets and what makes them take-off! Each one of the students in the older class got to assemble a rocket and shoot it off. Jase was about the 5th or 6th person to shoot his off and his was the first one to have success! Such a fun afternoon. Thankful for this group.
Here is footage of Jase's rocket!

2:7 Graduation

Shawn and I have been taking a discipleship class at church this year. We have met on nearly every Thursday night for two hours, beginning back in January. The 2:7 series is based on Colossians 2:7 scripture reference which states, "Rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." (NIV)

Every class we would discuss what we had studied in the word that week during our quiet time, say our scripture memory verses for our group, have topical Bible discussions, and shared life. We also wrote out our salvation testimony and shared it a couple of times. In doing this I am now prepared to tell others how God has touched my life and saved me, and it is not based on anything I have done right, but by His grace alone. "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

Each week Shawn and I have shared our life with our group {James, Sharon and Diane} and they have been such joy to do life with this past year. We will definitely miss the weekly sweet fellowship with them.

Here are all the table leaders getting recognized during the graduation. I cannot say enough about James. He was such a blessing to me, and to Shawn as well. Very knowledgeable in the word and knew just how to bring a point home that made sense. He encouraged us to memorize our bible verses each week and without him doing that I would have memorized way less. He introduced us to conversational/popcorn prayer, which I was a little nervous at first praying in front of people I did not know that well, but it was such a blessing to pray with our group each week.
Our sweet group. Diane and Sharon are mom and daughter and they were a delight each week. They both work in Dallas in the healthcare industry and it was a blessing to get to know them; genuine people.
And of course we were missing one of our members on graduation night. Shawn had to be in Louisiana for a couple of meetings, but I could not leave him out of the picture! I loved being next to him all year, discussing the bible, working on verses. I'm thankful for him and how he loves the Lord and leads our family.
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16

Weekend Fun

The first Sunday in November, Jase wrapped up his fall baseball league. His team jumped up to AA ball, instead of playing in the recreation league. Plenty of improvements to be made, but it was neat to see the competition and the next level. Our boys can definitely hang with any of those teams, but they have to stay consistent and make routine plays. They will get there.
Jase and Colin. Buddies for life made on the baseball field.
We took the kids to the park in Prosper one Saturday this month and the kids loved this big swing. It was so fun to watch them giggle.
Saturday evening I took Ally to see The Little Mermaid musical in Denton. The drama class at Guyer High School put on a huge production every year and this year was The Little Mermaid and last year was Mary Poppins. There was an orchestra down in front of the stage and all of the actors were great! I would definitely compare it to some of the musicals I've seen in Houston, it was that good! And for $10 a ticket...I will definitely keep it on my radar for next year!
Allyson LOVED the performance and was still talking about it 2 days later and asking me what my favorite song or character or part of the musical was! Glad I was able to share this time with her.
Here is Maebry before church on Sunday morning. She has been singing "Let it Go" quite a bit lately and I was finally able to catch her on video say a line or two. She is getting big!

Fall School Days

A couple of weeks ago at Classical Conversations, we had a campus clean-up day during science. We have learned about the 6 forms of pollution this fall, so we were doing our part to help clean up land pollution.
Sports, all day everyday! Even at the school table!
Jase and Mae share breakfast together before getting the school day underway. These two have such a neat bond. She always ask for him and he loves to pick her up! Praying they stay close like this, even at 7 years a part.
We studied the phases of the moon last week and I found a fun activity to do with them to help us remember! It involved Oreo's, so it was a hit! This big kid had zero complaints!
After we finished, Finn stacked all of his moons together and made 4 whole Oreo's!
Allyson loved this activity too!
It was fun learning about the phases of the moon together. I promise you, I am learning right along with them!
And I planned this activity while Mae was asleep, but she apparently did not miss out on anything, because she got a fun snack when she woke up!
Maebry provided some entertainment for us one day last week during school. She has been doing some "no hand head stands" and they are too funny!
Yesterday, I was either working with the kids or reading to the kids aloud, when I looked over and saw Mae sitting there reading Winnie-the-Pooh. She even brought a chair over to the bookshelf. Look at her with her little legs propped up! I love it!
And later in the afternoon we made our way outside for some fresh air! Pretty girl.

Maebry turns 2

On Friday, Veteran's Day, our sweet Mae turned 2 years old! Hard to believe that I was in the hospital this time 2 years ago. It just doesn't seem that long ago.
We spent most of the afternoon baking. She was my designated taster! I don't think she minded at all!
We waited for Daddy to come home from work so she could open her presents! All of the kids were excited to see what she got. And each of the kids even picked out a present for her, which they loved doing.
Kids watching as she opens another present. As you can see she has on a different outfit! After opening one gift she wanted to wear one of her new outfits! Minnie of course!
Some footage of her opening up one of her gifts.
Quick family selfie. Blurry of course. :/ It is hard to squeeze in 6 people these days! Love this tribe of mine so much.
After dinner we invited our neighbors over for dessert. It was really a nice and relaxed time with them. We sang Happy Birthday to Mae and here she is eating a Minnie cupcake that we made earlier that day.
Maebry and Mrs. Traci! We love our neighbors!!
It is grainy, but here are a few of the kids out back. Off the top of my head there are 6 other kids not pictured in this photo! We had a nice little group over for dessert. So blessed.
I took her to the doctor today for her 2 year well check-up and she was not a fan of any of it! Ha! She did not want to be weighed or have her ears checked or anything. I think she was scared, poor girl. We got through it and she left smiling, of course. She weighs 26 lb 2 oz {30th percentile} and is 34 inches tall {66th percentile}. Happy 2nd birthday, Maebry!
