Fun in Frisco

Earlier this week me and the kiddos drove up the Frisco to be closer to Daddy during the work week. Even though he was at work most of the day, it was comforting knowing that he was only a mile or two away, instead of 200! I can't wait until we are settled in our new home and this interim period of him travelling back and forth is done. But until then, we are trying to make the most of it!

Even though it was only a few days, it really was like a mini vacation for us. I didn't cook a meal, we relaxed, we swam and ventured out daily! And after this past month of busyness, it was nice to do nothing...if I'm being honest!
So there is a Mexican food restaurant in Frisco on Preston Road called La Hacienda Ranch and it is pretty tasty! Shawn and I ate there when we visited for our home finding trip. So good, we had to bring the kids back. And ok, maybe we wanted to eat there again!! If you're feeling like Mexican food and in the Frisco area, check it out!
After lunch, I took the kiddos to the pool while Daddy was working. They were pretty excited we were going. It was a nice time, and the kids listened great while we were out there, which always helps!
Daddy joined us after he got off of work. Dad at the pool = relaxation for Mom! Ha!!
Ok, so I promise this trip wasn't a complete eat-a-thon, but we had to eat! Another favorite: Babe's Chicken Dinner House. If you are remotely close to Dallas {they have other locations outside of Frisco}, this place is a MUST!! Again, we came here during our home finding trip and just had to bring the kids back!! How it works is that you order your meat {chicken fried steak, fried chicken, smoked chicken, catfish, etc} and the meal comes with the best home cooked sides: mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, and a salad, oh and some down right delicious buttermilk biscuits. They will bring plenty of meat for you {and whoever you come with, be sure to order different meats so you can share!}. The killer part {maybe it's killer on the waistline} of the meal is that sides are unlimited. You want more of something, just tell them and it is right out. I might have single-handedly ate 2 bowls {yes bowls} of mashed potatoes and gravy all by my lonesome. And didn't regret one bite of it. So so good! And the prices really aren't bad at all. For adults it is $12.99 each (plus drinks or order water!) and then kids {ages 6-10} are $5.99 I think and then ages 5 and under are free and will eat off your plate. So for us, Finn and Ally were free and had plenty to eat. Bonus! This is definitely not somewhere you eat at everyday or week, but I can definitely see us coming back here often!
After dinner, we walked around the property. A little exercise never hurt nobody, especially after a big meal!
After swimming and a full belly, these two didn't have any issues falling asleep!!
Breakfast at the hotel ended at 9:30 am every morning and we barely made it each morning. We are not really early risers at all. If someone is up before 7:30, it is early! On the flip side we do tend to stay up later than most folks. It all balances out and we get plenty of rest, especially the kiddos.
I'm amazed at how well the kids can manage my phone. I realize the times are different these days with technology, but Finn navigating on an iPhone before he turned 2 is crazy to me! Here are some of Finn's photography skills! Ha!
Frisco is home to the RoughRiders, a AA baseball team for the Texas Rangers. Last summer we attended a Round Rock Express game {AAA team for the Texas Rangers), outside of Austin, so it was neat to visit the Dr Pepper Ballpark this time. The park was very nice and kid friendly for sure. I can see us coming back here for future games!
So all 3 boys went to the restroom and during that time, guess who got a foul ball?!?! Allyson!! A foul ball was hit down the 3rd base line and the left fielder tossed the ball to Ally! She was really excited and it ended up being her favorite part of the trip!!
The boys came back from the restroom and they could not believe it. She was really nice and let them play with it!
Check out some of Ally's dance moves at the game!!
On the back left side of the field there is a play area for the kiddos. There is actually two: one for the big kids and another for Finn's age. They absolutely loved playing on it.
After the game we picked up frozen yogurt and headed back to the hotel.
The next morning me and the kids headed back home. I was a little anxious on the drive initially as this was the longest drive I have taken with kids by myself. On the way up to Frisco, Shawn and I followed one another so I had no worries. All ended up fine and we made it home safe and sound. We had such a great mini vaca in Frisco and had fun exploring the city!
