There's a new kid in town

That title should probably read, "There's an old dog in town." We have two dogs: Hank the rat terrier and Jet the black lab. Hank is 8 years old and Jet will be 7 in January. We've had both of them since they were pups and were our first babies.

At our first home Hank was an inside dog while we were home and was outside when we were gone. When we moved to our new house, we moved the furniture and found some disgusting places, and I mean disgusting where our little Hank had used the restroom in the house...we were not happy to say the least. We moved in our new home when Jase was 8 months, so keeping everything clean was a priority. So, he became an outside dog. Don't feel sad for him though...he loves it out there and runs the house with Jet!

A little history about Hank. When Hank was less than 2 years old I came home from from work and went to the back door to let him in and found a horrific scene. We had a cooler blocking the back door so he wouldn't scratch the back door, so when I opened the back door he just fell inside. He was bloody from head to toe and our back porch looked like a crime scene. I went into panic mode. His poor nose/mouth was separated from his face. He was so small, only 7-8 lbs. We did not have any kids at the time, so he was our little guy.

Shawn showed up to our house a few minutes later and we rushed to the animal emergency clinic. It was literally touch and go for him...not sure if he was even going to make it, he had lost a lot of blood. After surgery and several visits to the vet, he pulled through. Both nasal cavities were crushed and he lost 4 of his top teeth and his little black nose curled up and looks like a mean little pup since his top lip is always raised. We don't know what attacked him. There was a broken fence post, but other than that there was no other evidence since it had rained all day long.

Hank, while a feisty little dog, has a special place in our heart. I bathed him up last night and he spent the night inside in the living room. Let me tell you, Jase was in love!! He did not want to leave his side and ended up sleeping with him. It was so sweet.

When getting ready for Church this morning. He was putting props on him and asked me to take pictures of them together. :)
